Can healthcare teams run patient-facing workflows on Moxo?
Quick Answer: Yes for coordination work, once a signed BAA is in hand: Moxo told Automation Atlas in writing on 6 October 2026 that it signs BAAs, but it publishes none and did not say which plans the agreement covers or whether it reaches Moxo AI. Moxo says it has no native EHR, HL7 or FHIR connector, so anything that reads or writes the chart runs through its REST API or webhooks, or through a tool that signs its own BAA. These are vendor statements.
Moxo Says It Signs BAAs but Publishes None
Moxo told Automation Atlas in writing on 6 October 2026: "Yes, we sign BAAs." No document came with it, and moxo.com carries no BAA.
| Question | What Moxo has put in writing |
|---|---|
| Will it sign a BAA? | "Yes, we sign BAAs." (6 October 2026) |
| Which plans does it cover? | Not stated |
| Does it cover Moxo AI? | Not stated |
| Where is data hosted? | "AWS — US and EU zones", plus private cloud and on-premises options (6 October 2026) |
| Is the region chosen at setup? | Not stated |
The Description of Services, read 13 October 2026, says "The underlying AWS services used by the Service are HIPAA-eligible." That sentence describes Amazon's services. It is not an agreement with Moxo.
What the Patient and the Practice Each Do
Moxo's healthcare page, read 13 October 2026, splits the work: "AI handles preparation, validation, and follow-up", while staff keep "the work that requires clinical and operational expertise." The outsider gets "a secure link", sees "exactly what's needed" and responds. The Description of Services calls that link "secure, time-limited" and tied to "a specific assigned task".
Note who the outsider is. The page's external participants are "Referring physicians, specialists, payers, labs", not patients. Patient-facing use rests on customer stories read 13 October 2026: Eden Wellstyle, an online wellness provider, cites a "140% increase in client intake", and therapist Sasha Esposito MFT runs sessions in a branded digital channel. Neither mentions HIPAA, a BAA or an EHR.
The Zapier and Make Route Moves the PHI Off Moxo
Moxo names Zapier and Make as routes, and that is the trap. Moxo API 2.0.0 (read 13 October 2026) says a step.completed webhook carries the step's results, which for a form are "each field's integration key". An intake form's answers travel in the webhook. So does the flow name, whose example in the spec is "Onboarding - Acme Corp". Name flows by case number, not patient.
Zapier's Terms bar using the service "to upload or transmit any Sensitive Personal Data", a term that includes protected health information, and its privacy FAQ says it "can’t sign business associate agreements" (both read 13 October 2026). Make's security and Enterprise pages mention no BAA. A BAA with Moxo covers Moxo. The webhook's receiving end needs its own: an endpoint the practice controls, or an integration vendor that signs one. Zapier says it cannot.
Three Questions to Put to Moxo Before Signing
Ask which plans the BAA covers, and whether the plan with the API and webhooks is one of them. Moxo stopped publishing prices: by 13 October 2026 moxo.com/pricing redirected to its homepage. The last published list, read 28 September 2026, put Team at $5,000 a year for 100 flows and listed webhooks and REST APIs under Scale, a custom quote. Ask whether the BAA reaches Moxo AI steps that read patient documents. Ask whether the customer picks the US or EU zone at setup and whether the contract fixes it.
When Moxo Is the Wrong Choice
Pick another platform if the workflow must read or write clinical data in an EHR. Moxo's healthcare page says it connects to "EHR, practice management, payer portals", yet its written answer is "No native connectors today." The two fit only if the practice builds the connection through the API.
The Healthcare ranking puts Moxo 5th of 8 at 5.8 as of 13 October 2026, below UiPath (8.3), Power Automate (8.0), Automation Anywhere (7.5) and Boomi (7.3). Boomi documents FHIR Client and MLLP for HL7 v2, though neither is named for Epic or Cerner (as that ranking cites help.boomi.com, read 29 September 2026).
Editor's Note: A form's answers can leave Moxo inside its step.completed webhook: the example in Moxo's API reference carries an Intake Form's company name and email address, and Moxo's written answer of 6 October 2026 names "REST API, webhooks, or Zapier/Make" as integrations. For a patient form that is PHI in the payload. A BAA with Moxo covers Moxo, and Moxo's "Yes, we sign BAAs" names no plans. Zapier's Terms bar sensitive personal data and its FAQ says it "can’t sign business associate agreements". We would treat every outgoing webhook URL in a template as a PHI endpoint, point it only at a system the practice controls or a vendor that signs its own BAA, and name flows by case number. — Rafal Fila, ShadowGen

Best Human-in-the-Loop Automation Platforms 2026
Eight platforms are ranked here on a single mechanism: how a person enters an automated path, and what the system can prove afterward about the decision they made. Moxo scores 7.7 and ranks first; Camunda 8 scores 7.2, Microsoft Power Automate 7.1, Pega 6.9, n8n 6.7, Zapier 5.9, Kissflow 5.8 and ServiceNow 4.8, scored 22 September 2026 on the five weighted criteria. Those criteria cover the step type, the approver's account or licence, the routes available on a rejection, the audit record, and the meter that charges for the decision, and none of them can tell a review from a rubber stamp, so the methodology adds a check readers can run on any product in a few minutes: whether the decision record tells a considered approval from an instant one. Every figure was read from a vendor-owned surface and carries its own date.
Best Automation Platforms for AI Orchestration 2026
This ranking answers one question: how many real business applications can an AI agent act on out of the box? It evaluates nine platforms as of August 2026 on the reach they give an agent, not on the workflow logic they can express. That boundary is deliberate, because two neighbouring pages on this site answer different questions. Best Process Orchestration Platforms 2026 scores multi-step process control, error handling and state management. Best AI Agent Platforms 2026 scores building and hosting the agent itself. This page scores the layer between them: the connective tissue that lets an agent already built elsewhere reach the applications a business actually runs on. A platform that leads one of those pages can place low here, and two of them do. Scores derive from application and action catalogue counts, the exposure model each platform uses to publish those catalogues to an agent, setup effort, failure handling and cost per agent action. Every figure was retrieved from a vendor-owned surface on 11 August 2026 unless an earlier date is stated against it.

Moxo vs Gumloop in 2026: Texting the Client, or Building the Agent
Gumloop (founded 2023) builds AI agents a company's own staff run; Moxo, whose predecessor Moxtra was co-founded in 2012, runs processes that wait on people outside the company. Gumloop wins three rounds to two: the way in, per-tool gating and a priced overage. Moxo wins on texting a client a step and on what that client can be asked to do. Vendor pages and docs were read on 28 September 2026.
Moxo vs Relay.app in 2026: Where Relay's Approval Workflows Can Go Next
Relay.app, founded in 2021, shut down in September 2026 and deleted every account, workflow and run history; Moxo, whose predecessor Moxtra was co-founded in 2012, is one destination for its human-in-the-loop users. Relay.app takes two rounds, Moxo one, and vendor risk is a draw. The page maps which Relay steps Moxo replaces, on which plan, and what the shutdown teaches about exports, from sources read 28 September 2026.
Moxo vs Workato in 2026: The Integration Estate, or the Approval Inside It
Workato, founded in 2013, is an enterprise integration platform whose Workflow apps add human tasks to recipes; Moxo, whose predecessor Moxtra was co-founded in 2012, ships the human step itself. Workato wins three rounds to two: connector reach, change control and the way in. Moxo wins the human step and retries. Vendor pages and docs were read on 28 September 2026.
