Why this site exists
We spend our working week inside these tools. Through ShadowGen, the UK automation consultancy that publishes this site, we design and deploy automation platforms for client teams across sectors, and we run our own operations on them. Business process automation is the space we chose to work in, and this site is where that work gets written down.
That is what makes the reference different from a directory: the pricing quoted is the pricing that actually gets invoiced, the features described are the ones that hold up in production, and when an Editor's Note cites a deployment figure, it comes from a real project, anonymised by industry and company size. Where we have direct experience with a product, from client work or from using it inside the company, we say so and share what we learned.

Independence
- No display advertising
- No affiliate links
- No paid listings
Covering a tool properly takes hours: reading the documentation, verifying every price against the vendor's own pages, and comparing it with its closest alternatives. We work through the automation landscape on our own schedule and at no cost to the vendors we cover; most have never spoken to us, and anyone can submit a product for free. The site carries no display advertising, no affiliate links, and no paid listings.
Where a vendor wants broader or earlier coverage than our schedule would naturally reach, it is possible to fund the additional editorial time through ShadowGen. That funds time, not outcomes: funded evaluations follow the same standards as every other page, including the right to publish unfavourable findings, and coverage, scores, and ranking positions are never for sale. The full policy is in our editorial standards.
How facts are verified
Claims are checked against primary sources: vendor pricing pages, documentation, release notes, regulatory filings, and repository data. Facts carry an as-of date and a source; volatile facts such as pricing and integration counts are refreshed routinely and never left more than 90 days old, slower-moving facts never more than 180 days old, and contested claims are adversarially re-checked against primary sources before publication.
