Plus

The Plus plan removes file upload limits and extends page history to 30 days. It adds unlimited guest collaborators and allows teams to share content externally without restrictions. This tier is the entry point for most small teams that need shared workspaces with reliable version history.

Business

The Business plan adds SAML SSO, private teamspaces, bulk PDF export, and 90-day page history. It is designed for organizations that require identity management and content segmentation across departments. The private teamspaces feature is particularly important for companies with sensitive project data.

Enterprise

Enterprise pricing is negotiated through Notion's sales team. It adds unlimited page history, audit logs, advanced security controls, SCIM provisioning for automated user management, and a dedicated customer success manager. Data residency options are available for organizations with compliance requirements.

Hidden Costs and Considerations

• Annual vs monthly billing: Monthly billing costs approximately 20% more. The Plus plan is $12/user/mo when billed monthly versus $10/user/mo annually.
• AI add-on: Notion AI is an additional $10/user/month on top of any plan. For a 20-person team on Plus, this adds $200/month ($2,400/year) to the base cost.
• Guest limits on Free: The 10-guest limit on the free plan can be a constraint for freelancers or consultants who share workspaces with multiple clients.

How Notion Pricing Compares

Notion is competitively priced against other all-in-one workspace tools. Confluence starts at $6.05/user/month but lacks Notion's database and project management features. Coda offers a free tier with more automation credits but costs $10/doc maker/month for Team plans. Monday.com starts at $9/seat/month but charges more for comparable feature sets at higher tiers. For teams that primarily need a wiki and documentation tool, Notion offers more functionality per dollar than most alternatives.

Editor's Note: We migrated a 15-person SaaS startup from Confluence ($91/month) to Notion Plus ($150/month). The cost increase of $59/month was offset by eliminating a separate $25/month Trello subscription they used for project tracking. Net result: $34/month more, but one fewer tool to manage. The Notion AI add-on at $150/month for the full team was tested for two months — usage dropped after the novelty wore off, and 60% of the team rarely used it. We recommend evaluating AI add-on adoption before committing to it for all seats.

Editor's Note: Across ShadowGen Notion deployments in 2024-26, the 2026 change to how AI is sold reshaped the budget. Notion AI is no longer a cheap add-on on Plus; full AI now lives in Business at $15 a user, so a team that ran Plus at $10 plus a small AI fee has to move the whole workspace up to keep it. On top of that, the new Agents and Workers run on metered credits, roughly $10 per 1,000, so heavy AI automation generates usage charges above the per-seat price.
