The main limitations are the 5 MB file upload cap, 7-day page history, a maximum of 10 guest collaborators, and a block limit once a workspace has two or more members. Plus

The Plus plan removes file upload limits, extends page history to 30 days, and lifts the guest cap. It is the entry point for small teams that need shared workspaces with reliable version history. Notion AI remains a limited trial on this tier.

Business

Hidden Costs and Considerations

Annual vs monthly billing: monthly billing costs roughly 20% more — Plus is $12/user/mo monthly versus $10 annually, Business $24 versus $20.
AI placement: the earlier standalone Notion AI add-on has been discontinued. Full AI now lives in Business and Enterprise, so a Plus team that wants it moves the whole workspace up a tier.
Metered agent credits: custom Agents (and the Workers beta) run on credits, about $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits, billed on top of per-seat prices.

Monday.com starts at $9/seat/month but charges more for comparable feature sets at higher tiers. For teams that primarily need a wiki and documentation tool, Notion offers more functionality per dollar than most alternatives.

Editor's Note: We migrated a 15-person SaaS startup from Confluence ($91/month) to Notion Plus ($150/month). The cost increase of $59/month was offset by eliminating a separate $25/month Trello subscription they used for project tracking. Net result: $34/month more, but one fewer tool to manage. We also tested the then-available AI add-on for two months — usage dropped after the novelty wore off, and 60% of the team rarely used it. That caution transfers directly to today's decision about moving a whole workspace to Business for AI.

Editor's Note: Across ShadowGen Notion deployments in 2024-26, the 2026 change to how AI is sold reshaped the budget. Notion AI is no longer a cheap add-on on Plus; full AI now lives in Business at $20 a user (annual billing), so a team that ran Plus at $10 plus a small AI fee has to move the whole workspace up to keep it.
