Moxo, Inc.

platform

The company behind Moxo AI and Moxo Classic, incorporated as Moxtra in 2012, which took the Moxo name in 2022.

San Francisco, California, USA Founded 2012

Moxo sells orchestration for work where the people who have to act sit in different companies: a client, a supplier, a counterparty or an auditor. A template strings human steps such as approvals, forms, eSignatures and file requests together with AI steps and automations, and each run is a flow that carries its own data, its own participants and its own record. Its last published price list counted that unit, flows a year, rather than seats.

Our Take

Moxo's product is documented in far more detail than the company that makes it. Its Description of Services, API reference and changelog are specific enough to test against, and AutomationAtlas places Moxo first of eight on Best Human-in-the-Loop Automation Platforms 2026 at 7.7, a ranking that scores the human step rather than the engine behind it.

The same precision does not reach the company or the price list. Moxo's own pages describe its SOC 2 status two ways, and moxo.com/pricing changed three times in five weeks. Team fell from 250 to 100 flows a year at an unchanged $5,000 between the 26 August and 10 September 2026 captures, and by 28 September 2026 both the monthly option read on 15 September and the Scale plan's "500 flows/yr · $500 of AI/yr" line, read on 22 September, were gone. Then the list itself went: by 13 October 2026 moxo.com/pricing redirected to the homepage. Moxo told Automation Atlas in writing on 6 October 2026 that additional flow capacity and AI usage can be purchased and that its SOC 2 Type II report is available under NDA, without stating a rate. The flow allowance, the overage terms and the SOC report are worth getting in writing before an annual contract is signed.

What Sets Moxo, Inc. Apart

Moxo writes the difference between a person and a machine into its API. Its user record comes in four kinds, internal, external, agent and service, so an AI agent and an API key each appear as a named actor instead of borrowing a staff login. Endpoints that record a person's work refuse an organisation key, which the API reference says "is not a person, so it cannot stand in for one whose work is being recorded", and answer 403 ASSIGNEE_REQUIRED (Moxo API v2.0.0, read 28 September 2026).

The product draws the same line. AI agents fill preparer, advisor or reviewer slots around a human step rather than taking it, and the Approval step offers four named routes when the answer is no: "Revise and resubmit", "Let the approver decide", "Run rejection steps" and "End the flow".

Key Achievements

Public REST API at version 2.0.0, specified in OpenAPI 3.1 across 101 paths, and an MCP server published as @moxo/mcp-server 1.1.3 (developers.moxo.com, read 28 September 2026)
Certified to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, per its Privacy Policy last updated 13 July 2026
States it "is SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 certified" (moxo.com/security); its Description of Services says it "undergoes SOC 2 Type II auditing" (both read 28 September 2026)

About Moxo, Inc.

Moxo, Inc. is the company behind Moxo AI, a process orchestration platform for work that crosses company lines, and Moxo Classic, the older app its App Store listing calls "the original Moxo app for business workflows". The two have separate sign-ins, at app.moxo.com and getstarted.moxo.com. The company began as Moxtra, Inc., a Delaware corporation whose SEC Form D filings give 2012 as its year of incorporation, the same year a June 2021 PR Newswire release gives for Moxtra's co-founding. Moxtra announced the Moxo name on 7 March 2022, and the legal entity followed later: the Terms of Service still named "Moxtra Inc. (DBA Moxo)" on 19 August 2026, and by 15 September 2026 the Terms of Service, Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy named Moxo, Inc.

Moxtra filed three Form D notices of exempt offerings, on 8 August 2013, 2 October 2013 (an amendment) and 11 February 2015, and each lists Subrah Iyar as executive officer and director. Those filings record private sales of equity. This profile carries no funding total, because third-party trackers disagree on the figure and Moxo publishes none. The company page at moxo.com/company names no executives (read 28 September 2026).

The company publishes far more about its product than about itself. Its public REST API is at version 2.0.0, specified in OpenAPI 3.1 across 101 paths, and its MCP server ships as the npm package @moxo/mcp-server 1.1.3 (developers.moxo.com, read 28 September 2026). Its security page says Moxo "is SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 certified", while its Description of Services says the company "undergoes SOC 2 Type II auditing". On deployment, the Description of Services says the service is hosted on Amazon Web Services, and moxo.com/security lists private cloud, multi-tenant and on-premises options. Moxo told Automation Atlas in writing on 6 October 2026 that its data runs on AWS in US and EU zones and that private cloud and on-premises options are available. Moxo did not say whether a customer chooses the region at setup.

Moxo stopped publishing prices: by 13 October 2026 moxo.com/pricing redirected to its homepage. The last published list, read 28 September 2026, put Team, the one plan with a price, at $5,000 a year with no monthly option. Every plan button on that list read "Book a demo", and the header still links both "Request free trial" and "Book a demo".

Market Position

Moxo sits between client portals and process engines. Against BPMN engines such as Camunda 8, it trades model portability and the migration of running instances for step types a non-engineer can assemble and an outsider can act on without a login, a trade set out in Moxo vs Camunda 8 in 2026. Against workflow suites such as Kissflow, Pega and ServiceNow, it competes on the external participant rather than the internal estate. Against Zapier and n8n, it meters the flow rather than the task or the execution.

Moxo no longer publishes its entry price. The last published list, read 28 September 2026, put Team at $5,000 a year, billed annually, with Scale and Enterprise quoted, and by 13 October 2026 moxo.com/pricing redirected to the homepage. A buyer with a small-business budget now has to ask Moxo for a figure before judging fit.

Our Story

Moxo's history runs through two names and three addresses. Moxtra, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware in 2012, the year a June 2021 PR Newswire release gives for its co-founding. Its first SEC Form D, filed 8 August 2013, gave 140 Victory Lane, Los Gatos, California. Its February 2015 Form D gave 1601 South De Anza Boulevard, Cupertino, and EDGAR's company record still shows that Cupertino address, the latest the company filed. Cupertino was a filing address from 2015, not where the company started.

The Moxo name was announced on 7 March 2022, and the legal entity caught up in 2026. The Terms of Service read "Moxtra Inc. (DBA Moxo)" on 19 August 2026 and "Moxo, Inc." by 15 September 2026, and the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy read on 28 September 2026 give a San Francisco address for notices.
